Crown Regency Service Apartment, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Stayed at the Crown Regency Service Apartment this trip to Kuala Lumpur. The location is very prime, being in close proximity to KLCC. The rooms are quite big and are equipped with kitchens.

Patara Fine Thai, Singapore

Had dinner with family tonight at Patara Fine Thai (163 Tanglin Road, #03-14 Tanglin Mall, Singapore 247933). The restaurant had just undergone a renovation and reopened recently. Along with the reopening, they've also changed their menu.

We ordered a combination platter, individual soups (tom yam prawn, tom yam seafood, black cod, and fish maw), mango salad with crispy soft shell crab, and baked prawns with glass noodles. The combination platter was ordinary and dissapointing in terms of size -- four sticks of chicken satay, two breaded prawns and two pomegranate chicken for S$18! I had the black cod soup which is quite nice. The mango salad is also quite well done. I find the baked prawns with glass noodles not as nice as that of Thai Village.

We finished our dinner with a Thai dessert buffet.

Dorsett Regency Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Stayed at Dorsett Regency Hotel this trip to Kuala Lumpur. This hotel is located along Jalan Imbi, in the Bukit Bintang area, and just next to the Ritz-Carlton. The location of the hotel is not bad and the rooms of reasonable size. The complains I have are of the housekeeping service -- which never make any effort to replenish depleted supplies, the front desk -- which has only one staff on service at any one time, so the wait can be very frustrating, the concierge and bell boys -- which were very inattentive, and the television, which has limited number of channels.

Ikoi Japanese Restaurant, Hotel Miramar, Singapore

Had dinner with family at Ikoi Japanese Restaurant (401 Havelock Road, #01-01 Hotel Miramar, Singapore 169631) last night. The dinner is a la carte buffet style. Didn't enjoy the dinner at all. The place is very small and cramped. There was no attention paid on details. We had five adults and everytime we ordered sashimi, there were less than five pieces of each variety of fish. The menu has limited variety: sashmi, sushi/maki/temaki, tempura, soup, and side dishes. Costly at S$30+++ per head.
