Had dinner with XQ at Nagae Japanese Restaurant (#01-02 Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, 392 Havelock Road, Singapore) last night. The food is below average. We had a salmon and shiromi (white fish) sashimi, California handroll, and grilled cod with salt, all of which turned out to be disappointments. The sashimi is fishy. The California handroll is full of rice with little crab and avocado! The grilled cod is flavourless, and seemed more panfried than grilled. Service is without a smile, with all the waitresses looking rather bored and without enthusiasm. I would recommend giving this place a miss.
