Had dinner with family at Ikoi Japanese Restaurant (401 Havelock Road, #01-01 Hotel Miramar, Singapore 169631) last night. The dinner is a la carte buffet style. Didn't enjoy the dinner at all. The place is very small and cramped. There was no attention paid on details. We had five adults and everytime we ordered sashimi, there were less than five pieces of each variety of fish. The menu has limited variety: sashmi, sushi/maki/temaki, tempura, soup, and side dishes. Costly at S$30+++ per head.
Posted by ymchee at September 15, 2003 04:23 PM | TrackBackTry Kuriya Dining at Great World City or at Shaw Centre. They have pretty good Japanese food. I love their grilled beef tongue stick, razor shell dish, and fried osyter warpped with tofu skin. The best authentic Japanese food which doesn't rip my wallet apart.
Posted by: Nat on September 16, 2003 05:02 PMI've been to Ikoi many times and find it a nice place. the sashimi is better than what you get at the conveyor belt restaurants. the trick is to specify portion size. you can tell them how many pieces you want of each item so you can have your favourites over and over again. not good on variety but we're always stuffed when we leave.

Posted by: mark on September 17, 2004 10:36 PMI've been to Ikoi with my friend twice. Both visits were great. We even got the jap style table (by the side). We enjoyed our sashimi, tempura, sushi, etc .. most wonderful was I'm able to order as many times of my fav tako & salmon sashimi. And we plan to go again. That's why I'm in the net to check the number to call for reservation. :) In fact the servers were fine. Maybe during peak hours, we'll have to bear a little. Same applies to other restaurant ... isn't it?
Posted by: dora on November 6, 2004 05:32 PMI have been to Ikoi many times since they started business and I think they are pretty good. I would say it's value for money at $30.00+++ per head. A plate of sashimi elsewhere would have cost the same. Just let them know your preference and they will oblige! Works for me ! Anyway, peak time service is the same everywhere and they're pretty friendly at Ikoi.
Posted by: Jeanne on November 10, 2004 02:56 PMI was introduced to this place by my former boss. and I love it. Then introduced my friends there. The place is small, but if you have visited some small restaurants in Japan, then you will be comfortable with it. The food there is nothing special, which means no very expensive food there, just normal ones. But you get more for what you paid for is the conclusion from most of the vistors I know. Try it one more time, then you will love it.
